Q. How long does it take to make the dolls?
It typically takes about 2-3 days to make a doll once I start working on it, depending upon family commitments. Then the dolls are shipped US Priority mail which is supposed to take 2-3 business days. So a normal order can take anywhere from 1 week to 8 weeks to receive depending on how many orders are received at one time.
Q. How far in advance should I order for a Christmas gift?
A. It starts getting busy around the beginning of November, so I would recommend ordering prior to November 1st to have the best chance possible of receiving it in time. Many dolls were ordered after November 1st last year and they were received prior to Christmas, but I scrambled to get some of them done in time and would prefer a more leisurely Christmas season if possible.
Q. Can you make the face look like my child?
A. I wish I was that talented, but I'm not. I make all the faces in the same manner and they all turn out slightly different.
Q. What does "feels right" weight mean?
A. The best way I can describe it is to use the description of the sleeping child. If you have ever held a sleeping kid, they feel heavier than when awake. I make the dolls to the "awake" type of weight, which will feel more accurate. However, if your child was stillborn or died, then an actual weight would be more accurate. "Feels right" weight is between 1/2 to 2/3 of actual weight. Actual weight may be requested for $10 more up to a 4lb maximum doll. Consider this "real weight" option carefully as some moms have been disappointed and even requested the doll to be fixed to a "feels right weight".
